Ruby Valley Trek: Volunteers visit – “Where Travel Meets Real Impact” with Alliance Treks

The Ruby Valley Trek in July 2025 with Alliance Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. was a truly powerful and meaningful experience for a 32-member French student group. The team completed a 21-day volunteer and trekking program in the beautiful Ruby Valley region of Nepal based on Rubi Valley Rural Municipality.

Although the monsoon season brought heavy rain, muddy trails, and challenging conditions, it also revealed a unique side of Ruby Valley. The green landscapes, fresh mountain air, dramatic scenery, and peaceful walking routes created an unforgettable trekking experience that cannot be described in words.

During Ruby Valley Trek, the group actively supported 12 local schools by distributing stationery, sports materials, and warm clothing. In addition, they taught English, cleaned villages, built greenhouses, and helped distribute general medicines in coordination with the Sertung Health Post, supporting local patients and community health activities.

Moreover, the team also worked to raise tourism awareness in the region, helping local communities understand the value of sustainable trekking tourism. As a result, this project became a strong example of responsible travel combined with real community service.

Cultural exchange, homestay experience, traditional food, trekking through remote villages, and working closely with local guides, translators, and strong porters made Ruby Valley Trek  journey even more special. Furthermore, the constant support from Alliance Treks and Nepal coordinator Mr. Kul Bahadur Gurung took the entire experience to the next level.

This volunteering program, which has been running formally since 2012, continues to grow stronger and more impactful each year. Therefore, the team expressed deep satisfaction and appreciation for being part of this meaningful project.

I myself on behalf of MGH-2025 as a president, Ms. Lucia Alino Carbonell and the 32-member team from France sincerely would like to thank Mr. Kul and the entire Alliance Treks team for their dedication and contribution to Ruby Valley, Dhading, Nepal. We also would like to express their strong intention to return again and highly recommend Alliance Treks to future volunteers and travelers.

We believe MGH-2025 assisted and impacted at least 1000 students and 2500 locals this year in helping different ways. We love Ruby Valley and people from Ruby Valley Ganesh Himal so much.

Yes, but the risk is relatively low compared to higher treks in Nepal like Everest Base Camp Trek, Annapurna Circuity Trek, Langtang Valley Trek as well as Manaslu Circuit Trek however as Pangsang Pass (3,850m) is comparatively high enough, you need to be careful and attentive as a good precautions like walking slowly, drinking plenty of water, resting good enough, be hydrated and if necessary having Dymoxe a tablet against Altitude Sickness or we call it Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).

Yes, so that in case anything happens, your travel insurance helps you to cover Personal accidental, medical as well as Search & Rescue operation (heli rescue fees) during your trekking. Although we do have 100% safety rate on this trekking however this is the way how we make safe and secure to our clients.

No, as it is the remote trekking area, you need to have enough Nepali rupees for your trekking expenses. You will have plenty of money exchange shops in Kathmandu, ATM, Banks to exchange your any kind of convertible currencies but no ATM machine in Ruby Valley Trekking except in the trek beginning point (Syabru Besi) and ending place (Dhading Besi) the head quarter of Dhading District.

In the Initiation of first tourism businessman of this are and social activist Mr. Kul Bahadur Gurung from Chalish village and Founder & CEO of Alliance Treks & Expedition (P.) Ltd, proposed and locals as well as authorities endorsed the name "Ruby Valley" to name for the "Rubi Valley Rural Municipality". Although it is Ruby Valley but people officially named it Rubi Valley so it is the same and credit goes to Mr. Kul Bahadur Gurung.

USD 10 per day for guide and USD 5 per day for one porter is average good tips however as it is the gratitude, you decide as you wish to give your guide and porter/s. Please note that you give your tips for your crews (guide and porters) only after Ruby Valley Trek completion.

We recommend at least USD 40 per day for your daily meals and Lodge, guide USD 25 per day and porter cost USD 20 per day then permits, transportations, trekking equipment and more. In this itinerary, your trekking cost is full package so we look after most the things as listed in the Service include and exclude parts.

Guide and porter take care their meals themselves and they have they have their own rooms at the same lodge/home stay where you sleep. So, they will have well take care by Alliance Treks.

Usually each porter carries 20kg (one porter between two people) and they have their own bag pack too hence for their safety, security and comfort trek/travel we do recommend all the trekkers you bring as light as possible all your trekkers gears and as each porter will have their own luggage about 5kg each it is total 25kg daily load they have to carry. Some of your luggage which you may not need on the trekking, you can leave at your hotel in Kathmandu which is free of cost anyway. Let's respect, love and care porters making them convenient and confident offering only the necessary as well as your required gears to carry rather than like some companies in Nepal gives too much load which Alliance Treks is not happy and ready as it follows the porter protection protocole.
