The Gokyo Ri Trek with Alliance Treks begins in Kathmandu, where you spend a day exploring the city and visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. After that, you move toward the mountains with a short 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. This scenic flight brings you to a high-altitude airport and marks the real start of your Gokyo trek journey. From Lukla, you walk down into the Dudh Koshi River valley. Along the way, you cross exciting suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags and continue toward Phakding. Next, you climb a steep trail to Namche Bazaar, a key Sherpa town. Here, you rest for acclimatization, which is important for your Gokyo valley trek.
While staying in Namche, you can hike to the Everest View Hotel to see Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. In addition, you may visit the Sherpa Culture Museum to learn about local traditions and history. After this, you leave the Everest Base Camp route and move northwest toward the Gokyo region. As the trail rises, the landscape changes beautifully. You pass forests, yak grazing fields, and high mountain terrain. Then you stop at Dole and Machermo for altitude adjustment. From here, you may also see Cho Oyu, a stunning Himalayan peak. Gradually, you continue your Gokyo lake trek, walking beside clear blue lakes and dramatic mountain scenery until you reach Gokyo village.
In Gokyo, you rest and then climb Gokyo Ri early in the morning before sunrise. As the sun rises, you see breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. You also witness the massive Ngozumpa Glacier, which makes the view even more special. Finally, you return to Lukla by following the same route and then fly back to Kathmandu. Overall, the Gokyo Ri Trek offers a perfect mix of adventure, natural beauty, and Sherpa culture. Throughout the journey, you experience warm hospitality, traditional villages, and the peaceful lifestyle of the Himalayas.
