5/5 Excellent

Best company for Annapurna Trek

We had the best time of our life exploring Nepal 🇳🇵connecting with God and nature in the beautiful mountains together! We had such peaceful, comfortable and enjoyable trek in the Annapurna Mountain Range!
The hospitality of the local people, the organic delicious food, fresh and calm air, and perfect weather in early March made our expedition as close to perfect as possible. Our local guide, Jaybir Tamang, is very humble, hospitable, knowledgeable, disciplined, kind, thoughtful ,and always looking out for our safety.
We highly recommend our brother Jaybir and his company, Alliance Treks & Expedition. Our wonderful journey all started with God and the much respected Managing Director Kul Bahadur Gurung.

Embark on a memorable 4-day Poon Hill Trek from Pokhara, one of the most popular short treks in the Annapurna region of Nepal. This trek is ideal for beginners, families, and nature lovers who want to experience the Himalayan beauty without committing to a long expedition. Starting with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, the trek gradually ascends through lush rhododendron and oak forests to the charming village of Ulleri, famous for its long stone stairways and panoramic mountain views.

On the second day, trek to Ghorepani, a picturesque village nestled in the heart of the Annapurna foothills. The trail offers breathtaking vistas of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Machapuchare (Fishtail) mountains, along with cultural encounters in local Gurung settlements.

Day three is the highlight of the trek: an early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m) to witness the spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas, one of the most iconic viewpoints in Nepal. After capturing the majestic panorama, the trail descends through terraced fields and forests to Tadapani or Chuli village, showcasing traditional rural life and serene landscapes.

On the final day, trek downhill to the scenic Ghandrung village, renowned for its traditional Gurung culture and architecture, before continuing to Kinch and driving back to Pokhara. Along the way, trekkers enjoy rolling hills, cascading waterfalls, and panoramic views of the Annapurna range, making this trek a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and natural beauty.

This short Himalayan trek from Pokhara is not only a feast for the eyes but also a cultural journey through the heart of Nepal, providing unforgettable memories of the Annapurna region, Ghorepani, Ghandrung, and Poon Hill.

You Should Know Before Travel Expand All Collapse All

It’s pretty easy, thus it is suitable for beginners. The trek offers a moderate level of difficulty. Hence, it allows for an enjoyable adventure without being overly challenging.

Yes, from 1st April 2023, it’s compulsory for all international trekkers to hire a guide for hiking most routes in Nepal. The best way of finding a good reliable guide is through one of the trekking agencies in Pokhara or Kathmandu.

Before starting the Poon Hill trek, you need to obtain two permits: the Trekkers Information Management Systems (TIMS) card and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). The TIMS card costs USD 20 for individual trekkers and USD 10 for group trekkers.

Even if you’re staying in teahouses, you’ll need a sleeping bag. If you’re already in Nepal and you don’t have one, there are plenty of trekking shops in both Kathmandu and Pokhara that can rent you one for a small fee. You’ll also need a down jacket, as it can get really cold at Poon Hill before the sunrise.

While Poon Hill provides breathtaking vistas of these peaks, Mount Everest itself is not visible from this vantage point.

The Poon Hill viewpoint offers some of the most breathtaking views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Fishtail, Mardi, and numerous more mountains. Poon Hill is a well-known tourist destination in and of itself and is a fantastic choice for a side trip while traveling along Annapurna Conservation Area.
