Gokyo Lake Trek - 11 Days

The Gokyo Lake Trek was one of the highlights of my trip to Nepal. I enjoyed the combination of beautiful mountain landscapes, traditional Sherpa villages, and the peaceful Gokyo Lakes. The climb to Gokyo Ri was challenging but completely worth the effort for the panoramic views. Our guide was professional and patient, and the entire trekking experience was well managed. I would happily choose this route again.

I had a fantastic time on the Gokyo Lake Trek. The scenery was incredible, especially around the Gokyo Valley and the lakes. Although some days were physically challenging because of the altitude, our guide was supportive and made the journey much easier. I particularly enjoyed the quiet atmosphere around Gokyo and the spectacular mountain views. Everything was well organized, and I came away with some wonderful memories of trekking in Nepal.

The Gokyo Lake Trek was a wonderful adventure. Every day brought something different, from walking through mountain villages and forests to reaching the beautiful high-altitude lakes. The views of Everest and the surrounding mountains from Gokyo Ri were spectacular. Our guide was knowledgeable about the local culture and always made sure we were comfortable on the trail. The itinerary was well planned and gave us enough time to enjoy the scenery.

I absolutely loved the Gokyo Lake Trek. The route felt peaceful and offered some incredible views of the Himalayas without being as busy as the main Everest Base Camp trail. The turquoise Gokyo Lakes were the highlight for me, while climbing Gokyo Ri was another memorable experience. Our trekking team took great care of us and kept everything organized. I would definitely recommend this trek to anyone visiting Nepal.

I have travelled to Nepal before, but this was my first trek in the Gokyo Valley. The landscape is incredible and feels completely different once you get higher into the valley. Walking past the glacial lakes and seeing the mountains reflected in the water was one of the most beautiful moments of the trip. I also enjoyed the local teahouses and meeting other trekkers along the way. Our guide was knowledgeable about the route and made the entire journey feel relaxed and enjoyable.

This was my first high-altitude trek in Nepal, so I was a little nervous about how my body would handle the elevation. Fortunately, our itinerary allowed us to increase altitude gradually and our guide regularly checked how everyone was feeling. I really enjoyed the villages along the route and the views became more spectacular every day. Gokyo itself was my favourite place, especially sitting beside the lake after a long walking day. The whole experience was very well organized.

What I loved most about the Gokyo Lake Trek was the atmosphere. After reaching Namche, the trail gradually became quieter and the scenery kept getting better. The turquoise lakes surrounded by huge Himalayan peaks were beautiful, especially in the morning when the water was completely calm. Some of the uphill sections were challenging, but our guide was very supportive and never rushed us. It was a wonderful combination of adventure, nature and mountain culture.

The climb to Gokyo Ri was probably the toughest morning of the trek, but also the best one. We started early and reached the viewpoint as the mountains were beginning to light up. The panoramic view of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu and the Gokyo Valley was something I will never forget. The trek itself was also very enjoyable, especially the walk beside the turquoise lakes. Our guide kept a good pace and gave us plenty of time to enjoy the scenery.

I chose Gokyo because I wanted to experience the Everest region without following exactly the same route as everyone else. It turned out to be a great decision. The trail around Dudh Pokhari and the Gokyo Lakes was incredibly peaceful, and the views of Cho Oyu and the surrounding peaks were unforgettable. I especially enjoyed the slower mornings in the mountains. Alliance Treks organized everything very well, and our guide was friendly, experienced and easy to communicate with.

The guide and porter were both very helpful throughout the trek, and I felt well looked after from Kathmandu until the end.
